Yoga in Primary Schools - Children
"Laura leads weekly yoga for children sessions at Canberra Primary. She has worked with Primary 5 and Primary 7 children helping them to build resilience, a Growth Mindset and giving them strategies for relaxation. She is very professional and has a clear vision of what she can achieve and how to get there with the children. Her manner is approachable and friendly and the children respond very well to her. She brings all of her own equipment and tailors the learning to the group she is working with. The children enjoyed the sessions immensely and noticed an improvement in their flexibility and wellbeing."
Laura has taught Yoga across a number of stages in St Kenneth’s. These have been very well received by children and staff. Her classes are particularly suited to a range of children’s needs and support children in achieving a calm and purposeful approach to learning. Laura teaches a very well balanced programme of mindfulness and stretches and we have been amazed at how well engaged all children are in these lessons. Laura’s friendly and professional manner fosters a lovely relationship with children. We are fortunate to have Laura as a parent in our school so we have benefited from both adult and children’s classes at PTA events. These have also been very popular. On our staff wish list is for Laura to teach a Yoga lesson every week! Staff have also commented on how this has supported them in taking forward mindfulness. St Kenneth’s highly recommend Laura!
Laura came to our primary school during health week. She did yoga with the whole school the children loved it, in particular, children with behavioural and additional support needs . Calm, peaceful and fun!

- I think it is really calming. You do a lot of stretches and I like to stretch my body and we play games. She showed us these poses that calm you down. You put your hands up and breathe in and push the feeling away. It is useful if your brother or sister is annoying you. I will definitely try it at home. Primary 5
